Hebden Bridge’s growing number of creative and digital businesses are to be given the chance to say what they need to help them beat the global economic downturn.

The community-led team which is negotiating to bring new life to Hebden Bridge’s beautiful but neglected Town Hall is exploring the possibility of establishing a new small business centre next to the current building. This facility, provisionally named Hebden Bridge Creative Quarter, would provide office accommodation and business services tailored at the needs of new and growing small businesses based in the upper Valley.

Hebden Bridge Linear Park launch 19th October 2008

On Sunday the 19th of October a canal event is being held in Mytholmroyd, by the Upper Calder Valley Renaissance. It’s hoped that walkers, cyclists, anglers, boaters and anyone with an interest in the canal will take a critical look, make notes and take photos along the stretch nearest them and share their findings. A digital collage of the canal along with notes is to be attached to a large scale map of the Upper Calder Valley section of the Rochdale Canal to give an immediate picture of it.

The event starts at 3pm until 5 pm in St Michaels’ Church in Mytholmroyd and there will be refreshments available. For further details of the event please telephone 07949 368462.

The annual Vintage Car Weekend held on Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge on the 2nd and 3rd of August was once again a huge success.

Engines roared, paintwork gleamed and chrome shone at the 26th Hebden Bridge Vintage Weekend. Organised by the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge the event saw a record 500 entries, which included cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles.

Over 300 participants took to the streets on Saturday, 19 July for the first Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade.The water-themed community-generated parade, organized by arts group HEADS and Thingumajig Theatre made its way from Valley Road to Calder Holmes Park where it opened the World on Your Doorstep Festival.
